Obverse Die 5

Primary Characteristics

Die 5 appears only with VAM 10.  It is paired with reverse die h to make VAM10.

The die is relatively easy to recognize because of the tripled and quadrupled date numerals.  The 18-1 show the multiples clearly and they are not difficult to recognize.

The first 1 is quadrupled below top flag, and tripled below bottom crossbars.  The left 8 is tripled or quadrupled at the inside and outside of both loops.  The second 1 is doubled slightly the at bottom of the lower crossbar and on the right side of the vertical shaft.
