Comments:  For us the reverse of this coin approaches monster toned status.  It has great eye appeal, color, and luminosity.

Our guess is that this coin spent most of its life in a mint vault somewhat sheltered from the moisture damage we see on so many New Orleans coins.  Wherever it was the obverse was rubbing against other coins to a degree that the damage on the cheek became excessive.

The reverse of this coin demonstrates many of the tones acquired when a coin picks up its color in a mint bag.  From the rim to the center we see, powder blue, bright yellow (in the motto), magenta, and we also think royal blue.  All of these colors are identified as bag related.

Coupled with its reflectivity this makes for a very nice coin.
