Comments:  When acquired in July 2016 this was our only VAM 1D that was in a proof like state.  On this coin the distinguishing characteristics of the VAM were more noticeable because of the heavy damage above the eyelash, but even that is not as heavy as most in our collection.

 

So many of the characteristics we associate with the "Flaky Eye" developed with some wear, or at least became more noticeable.

 

This coin seems right for the grade with a lot of bag marks but not so many as to really detract from its appearance.
