Comments:  If we were going to name this coin it would probably be something like the bride of Frankenstein.  The black and white streaks in the hair just bring back the mental image from the movie.

 

There just isn't much to like about this one from the wear to the dirt it just lacks eye appeal.  We actually think the wear on the high points in the hair should have knocked this coin down a grade, but the eagle is in much better shape and perhaps it helps hold the AU 55 grade.

 

For a VAM 53 you only need to have visibility of the first two date digits and the doubling for identification.  The reverse lacks the die crack that often runs down through the mint mark, so it is an earlier strike.
